Butyl acetate, abbreviated as butyl acetate. A colorless, transparent liquid with a pleasant fruity aroma. Lower level homologues are difficult to dissolve in water; Compatible with organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and ketones. Flammable. Acute toxicity is relatively low, but it has strong irritation to the eyes and nose, and can cause anesthesia at high concentrations. Butyl acetate is an excellent organic solvent with good solubility for ethyl cellulose, butyrate cellulose acetate, polystyrene, methyl methacrylate resin, chlorinated rubber, and various natural tree resins.
application area
1. GB 2760-96 specifies that edible spices are allowed to be used. As a spice, it is widely used to prepare banana, pear, pineapple, apricot, peach, strawberry, berry and other essence. It can also be used as a solvent for natural rubber and synthetic resins.
2. Excellent organic solvents have good solubility for cellulose acetate butyrate, ethyl cellulose, chlorinated rubber, polystyrene, methyl acrylic resin, as well as many natural resins such as tannin extract, Manila gum, Dama resin, etc. Widely used in nitrocellulose varnish, it is used as a solvent in the processing of synthetic leather, fabrics, and plastics, as an extractant in various petroleum and pharmaceutical processes, and as an ingredient in fragrance compounds and various fragrances such as apricots, bananas, pears, and pineapples.

Sealed operation with comprehensive ventilation. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter type gas masks (half masks), chemical safety goggles, anti-static work clothes, and rubber oil resistant gloves. Keep away from sources of fire and heat, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent steam leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants, acids, and bases. During filling, the flow rate should be controlled and there should be a grounding device to prevent static electricity accumulation. Handle with care during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances.
Storage principle
Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, and bases, and avoid mixing storage. Adopt explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to generating sparks. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable containment materials.
Urgent handling
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly rinse the skin with soap and water.
Eye contact: Immediately lift the eyelids and rinse with plenty of flowing water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Quickly leave the scene and move to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately perform artificial respiration. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting.
Preventive measures
Quickly evacuate personnel from the contaminated area to a safe zone, isolate them, and strictly restrict their entry and exit. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure respirators and anti-static work clothes. Cut off the leakage source as much as possible. Prevent the flow into restricted spaces such as sewers and drainage ditches.
Minor leakage
Absorb with activated carbon or other inert materials. You can also rinse with a large amount of water, dilute the washing water, and put it into the wastewater system.
Massive leakage
Construct embankments or dig pits for containment. Cover with foam to reduce steam disaster. Transfer to a tanker or dedicated collector using an explosion-proof pump, and recycle or transport to a waste disposal site for disposal.
