aniline

It is a compound formed by replacing one hydrogen atom in a benzene molecule with an amino group. Its physical properties are colorless or slightly yellow oily liquid, with a strong odor. Its chemical properties are alkaline, and it can react with hydrochloric acid to form a hydrochloride salt, and with sulfuric acid to form a sulfate salt. Aniline turns brown when exposed to air or sunlight. Steam distillation can be used, and a small amount of zinc powder can be added during distillation to prevent oxidation. The purified aniline can be added with 10-15 ppm NaBH4 to prevent oxidation and deterioration.

application area

Aniline is one of the important intermediates in the dye industry, which can be used to manufacture acidic ink blue G, acidic medium BS, acidic light yellow, direct orange S, direct peach red, indigo, dispersed yellow brown, cationic peach red FG, and reactive brilliant red X-SB; In the field of organic pigments, it is used to manufacture golden red, golden red g, red powder, phenol red, oil soluble black, etc. Used in the printing and dyeing industry for the dye aniline black;

Used in the pesticide industry to produce many insecticides, fungicides such as DDV, herbicides, and herbicides; Aniline is an important raw material for rubber additives, used in the manufacture of anti-aging agents A, D, RD, 4010, M, 808, D, and CA, among others; It can also be used as a raw material for pharmaceutical sulfonamide drugs, as well as an intermediate in the production of fragrances, plastics, varnishes, films, etc;
Aniline is an important raw material for the production of pesticides, from which N-alkylaniline, alkylaniline, ortho nitroaniline, cyclohexylamine, etc. can be derived. It can be used as an intermediate for fungicides such as sodium dichlorvos, seed mix, insecticides such as triazophos, pyridazine, and quinthion, herbicides such as metoclopramide, cyclohexanone, and imidazolidinoic acid.

Packaging, Storage, Transportation, and Safety
Hazard Overview

Health hazards: This product mainly causes methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, and liver and kidney damage. The Book of Changes allows for skin absorption. Acute poisoning: The patient has cyanosis of the lips, fingertips, and auricle, accompanied by headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, numbness in the fingers, and mental confusion; When severely poisoned, the skin and mucous membranes become severely bruised, with difficulty breathing, convulsions, and even coma and shock. Hemolytic jaundice, toxic hepatitis, and kidney damage occur. There may be chemical cystitis. Conjunctival keratitis caused by eye contact. Chronic poisoning: The patient presents with symptoms of neurasthenia syndrome, accompanied by mild cyanosis, anemia, and liver and spleen enlargement. Skin contact can cause eczema.
Environmental hazards: Harmful to the environment and can cause pollution to water bodies.
Explosive hazard: This product is flammable and toxic.

Emergency measures

Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly rinse the skin with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
Eye contact: Immediately lift the eyelids and thoroughly rinse with plenty of flowing water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Quickly leave the scene and move to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately perform artificial respiration. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

Fire protection measures

Harmful combustion products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides.
Fire extinguishing method: Firefighters must wear gas masks and extinguish fires from a safe distance in the upwind direction.
Extinguishing agent: water, foam, carbon dioxide, sand.

Emergency response to leakage

Emergency response: Quickly evacuate personnel from the contaminated area to a safe zone, isolate them, and strictly restrict their entry and exit. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency responders wear self-contained positive pressure respirators and protective clothing. Do not come into direct contact with the leaked material. Cut off the leakage source as much as possible. Prevent the flow into restricted spaces such as sewers and drainage ditches.
Minor leakage: Absorb or absorb with sand or other non combustible materials.
Massive leakage: Construct embankments or dig pits to contain it. Spray water or foam to cool and dilute steam and protect on-site personnel. Transfer to a tanker or dedicated collector using a pump, and recycle or transport to a waste disposal site for disposal.
On December 31, 2012 at 7:40 am, Shanxi Tianji Coal Chemical Group Co., Ltd. located in Lucheng City, Changzhi City, experienced an aniline leakage accident caused by a ruptured conveying hose. The leaked aniline flowed out of the province with the river water, causing a large-scale water outage in Handan City.

Handling and Storage

Operation precautions: Closed operation, provide sufficient local exhaust. Operate as mechanically and automatically as possible. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear filter type gas masks (half face masks), safety goggles, work clothes that prevent toxic substances from penetrating, and rubber oil resistant gloves. Keep away from sources of fire and heat, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent steam leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants and acids. Handle with care during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances.
Storage precautions: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature shall not exceed 30 ℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 80%. Store away from light. The packaging requires sealing and must not come into contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, and edible chemicals, and avoid mixing storage. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable containment materials.
