Essential information

Sulfuric acid is a lively binary inorganic strong acid that can react with the vast majority of metals. High concentration sulfuric acid has strong water absorption and can be used as a dehydrating agent to carbonize carbohydrate containing substances such as wood, paper, cotton and linen fabrics, and biological skin. When mixed with water, a large amount of heat energy is also released. It has strong corrosiveness and oxidizing properties, so it should be used with caution. It is an important industrial raw material that can be used to manufacture fertilizers, drugs, explosives, pigments, detergents, batteries, etc. It is also widely used in industries such as petroleum purification, metal smelting, and dyes. Commonly used as a chemical reagent, it can be used as a dehydrating agent and sulfonating agent in organic synthesis.

Metallurgy and petroleum industry: used in the metallurgical industry and metal processing. In the metallurgical industry sector, especially in the production process of non-ferrous metals, sulfuric acid is required. In the production process of petroleum products such as gasoline and lubricants in the petroleum industry, concentrated sulfuric acid refining is required to remove sulfur-containing compounds and unsaturated hydrocarbons.
  
Solving the problem of people's clothing, food, housing, and transportation: Used for the production of chemical fibers, the familiar adhesive silk requires the use of a mixture of sulfuric acid, zinc sulfate, and sodium sulfate as a coagulation bath for adhesive spinning.
 
Consolidating national defense: The development of sulfuric acid industry in some countries was once closely linked to the production of military explosives.x
 
Agricultural use

Soil improvement: In agricultural production, sulfuric acid is increasingly used to improve high pH calcareous soils.
Fertilizer production: The production of ammonium sulfate (commonly known as ammonium sulfate or fertilizer powder) and superphosphate (commonly known as superphosphate lime or superphosphate) for fertilizers requires a large amount of sulfuric acid.

Packaging, Storage, Transportation, and Safety

Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. The storage temperature shall not exceed 35 ℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 85%. Keep the container sealed. Keep away from sources of fire and heat, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Keep away from flammable and combustible materials. Prevent steam leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with reducing agents, alkalis, and alkali metals. Handle with care during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances. When diluting or preparing a solution, acid should be added to water to avoid boiling and splashing injuries to personnel.
