Essential information

Liquid alkali refers to sodium hydroxide in liquid form, also known as caustic soda or caustic soda. Due to different production processes, the concentration of liquid alkali in existing chlor alkali plants is usually 30-32% or 40-42%. Pure product is a colorless and transparent liquid. Relative density is 1.328-1.349, melting point is 318.4 ℃, boiling point is 1390 ℃. Pure liquid caustic soda is called liquid caustic soda, which is a colorless and transparent liquid. Industrial products often contain impurities, mainly sodium chloride and sodium carbonate, and sometimes a small amount of iron oxide. After dissolving into concentrated alkali, most impurities will float to the liquid surface and can be separated and removed.

Application area

It is an important chemical raw material with a wide range of applications. The chemical industry is used to manufacture formic acid, oxalic acid, borax, phenol, sodium cyanide, soap, synthetic fatty acids, synthetic detergents, etc. The textile printing and dyeing industry uses it as a solvent for cotton fabric desizing agent, scouring agent, silk gloss agent, reducing dye, and navy blue dye. Manufacturing aluminum hydroxide, aluminum oxide, and metal surface treatment agents for the smelting industry. The instrument industry uses it as an acid neutralizer, decolorizer, and deodorizer. The adhesive industry uses it as a starch gelatinizer and neutralizer. In addition, it is widely used in industries such as enamel, medicine, cosmetics, leather making, coatings, pesticides, and glass.

1. Pharmaceutical

Caustic soda is highly corrosive. When it comes into contact with the skin, it should be immediately rinsed with clean water. If it splashes into the eyes, it should be rinsed with clean water or saline solution for 15 minutes. In severe cases, it should be taken to the hospital for treatment.
