Cyclohexanone

Organic compound, a six-carbon cyclic ketone, is a colorless oily liquid at room temperature, has an odor similar to peppermint oil and acetone, and turns yellow in color for a long time. The impure is light yellow, with the storage time to generate impurities and color, water white to grayish yellow, with a strong pungent odor. The explosive pole mixed with air is the same as the open chain saturated ketone. Cyclohexanone is used industrially as a solvent and as a trigger for some oxidation reactions. It is also used in the production of adipic acid, cyclohexanone resin, caprolactam and nylon.

Basic information

Organic compound, a six-carbon cyclic ketone, is a colorless oily liquid at room temperature, has an odor similar to peppermint oil and acetone, and turns yellow in color for a long time. It is slightly soluble in water (5-10g/100 ml) and miscible with most organic solvents.

Application areas

Cyclohexanone is an important chemical raw material, which is the main intermediate of nylon, caprolactam and adipic acid. It is also an important industrial solvent, such as for paints, especially those containing nitrocellulose, vinyl chloride polymers and their copolymers or methacrylate polymers. Used for organophosphorus insecticides and many similar pesticides such as excellent solvent, used as a dye solvent, as a piston type aviation lubricating oil viscous solvent, grease, wax and rubber solvent.

It is also used as a leveling agent for dyeing and matte silk, degreasing agent for polishing metal, wood coloring and painting, and can be used for film removal, decontamination and spot removal of cyclohexanone. Cyclohexanone is condensed with cyanoacetic acid to obtain cyclohexylidene cyanoacetic acid, which is then eliminated and decarboxylated to obtain cyclohexene acetonitrile, and finally cyclohexene ethylamine [3399-73-3] is obtained by hydrogenation. Cyclohexene ethylamine is an intermediate of drugs such as Kemeche and Temarun.

Used as a high boiling point solvent for cosmetics such as nail polish. It is usually mixed with low boiling point solvent and medium boiling point solvent to obtain suitable volatilization speed and viscosity.

Packaging, transportation and safety

First aid measures

Skin contact: remove contaminated clothing and rinse skin thoroughly with soap and water.

Eye contact: immediately lift the eyelid and rinse thoroughly with plenty of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

Inhalation: quickly leave the scene to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.

Intake: Drink plenty of warm water to induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

Fire protection measures

Hazardous combustion products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.

Fire extinguishing method: spray water to cool the container, if possible, move the container from the fire to the open area.

Extinguishing agent: foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand.

Emergency treatment of leakage

Emergency treatment: quickly evacuate the personnel from the leakage pollution area to the safety area, isolate them, and strictly restrict access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and anti-static overalls. Cut off the leak source as much as possible. Prevent from flowing into restricted spaces such as sewers and flood drainage ditches.

Small amount of leakage: adsorption or absorption with sand or other non-combustible materials. It can also be washed with a large amount of water and diluted with washing water into the waste water system.

Large leakage: build embankments or dig pits to contain. Cover with foam to reduce steam disasters. Transfer to tanker or special collector with explosion-proof pump, recycle or transport to waste treatment site for disposal.

Operation Disposal and Storage

Operation precautions: airtight operation, pay attention to ventilation. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filtering respirator (half mask), chemical safety goggles, anti-static overalls and rubber oil-resistant gloves. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent vapor leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidizing agents and reducing agents. Charging to control the flow rate, to prevent the accumulation of static electricity. Handle and unload lightly to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with corresponding types and quantities of fire fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may leave harmful substances.

Precautions for storage: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidizing agent, reducing agent, etc., and avoid mixed storage. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
