Basic information
Methanol (Methanol) is an organic compound commonly used as a solvent, antifreeze, fuel, or neutralizer. Methanol is a saturated monohydric alcohol with simple methanol system structure. CAS numbers are 67-56-1 and 170082-17-4, with 32.04 molecular weight and boiling point of 64.7 ℃. Methanol is usually produced by reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen.
Application areas
1, one of the basic organic raw materials, used in the manufacture of methyl chloride, methylamine and dimethyl sulfate and other organic products. It is also a raw material for pesticides (insecticides, acaricides), pharmaceuticals (sulfonamides, oxytetracycline, etc.), and one of the raw materials for the synthesis of dimethyl terephthalate, methyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate.
2. The main application field of methanol is the production of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde can be used to produce adhesives, mainly used in the wood processing industry, followed by treatment agents for molding compounds, coatings, textiles and paper.

Packaging, transportation and safety
Operation:

Storage:
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, alkali metals, etc., and mixed storage should not be avoided. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials. Suitable storage containers for methanol are stainless steel containers and plastic storage tanks. Inlet and outlet of methanol storage tank:
The inlet and outlet of methanol storage tank must use PE flange made of the same material as plastic storage tank as the outlet, so that leakage will not be caused by the interface of other materials.
Emergency treatment for leakage:
Quickly evacuate the personnel from the leakage pollution area to the safety area, isolate them and strictly restrict the access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and anti-static overalls. Do not touch the leak directly. Cut off the leak source as much as possible. Prevent from flowing into restricted spaces such as sewers and flood drainage ditches. Small amount of leakage: adsorption or absorption with sand or other non-combustible materials. It can also be washed with a large amount of water and diluted with washing water into the waste water system. Large leakage: build embankments or dig pits to contain. Cover with foam to reduce steam disasters. Transfer to tanker or special collector with explosion-proof pump, recycle or transport to waste treatment site for disposal.
