Essential information
Sodium sulfite, chemical formula Na2SO3, common sulfite, white, monoclinic crystal or powder. It has a stimulating effect on the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes, and can contaminate water sources. Toxic sulfide smoke is produced by high thermal decomposition. In industry, it is mainly used to produce cellulose sulfite, sodium thiosulfate, organic chemicals, bleached fabrics, etc. It is also used as a reducing agent, preservative, dechlorination agent, etc.
Application area
1. Used for trace analysis and determination of tellurium and niobium, preparation of developing solutions, and also as a reducing agent;
2. Used as a stabilizer for artificial fibers, fabric bleaching agent, photographic developer, dye bleaching deoxidizer, fragrance and dye reducing agent, papermaking lignin remover, etc;
3. Used as a common analytical reagent and photoresistor material;
4. Reductive bleaching agents have bleaching effects on food and strong inhibitory effects on oxidases in plant-based foods.
5. As a deoxidizer and bleaching agent, the printing and dyeing industry is used in the cooking of various cotton fabrics, which can prevent local oxidation of cotton fibers and affect fiber strength, and improve the whiteness of the cooked fabrics. The photosensitive industry uses it as a developer. Organic industry is used as a reducing agent in the production of meta phenylenediamine, 2,5-dichloropyrazolone, anthraquinone-1-sulfonic acid, 1-aminoanthraquinone, sodium aminosalicylate, etc., which can prevent the oxidation of semi-finished products during the reaction process. Used as a lignin removal agent in the paper industry. The textile industry uses it as a stabilizer for synthetic fibers. The electronics industry is used to manufacture photoresistors. The water treatment industry is used for the treatment of electroplating wastewater and drinking water;
6. Used in the food industry as a bleaching agent, preservative, loosening agent, and antioxidant. Also used in pharmaceutical synthesis and as a reducing agent in the production of dehydrated vegetables;
7. Used for the production of cellulose sulfite, sodium thiosulfate, organic chemicals, bleached fabrics, etc., as well as reducing agents, preservatives, dechlorination agents, etc;
8 . The laboratory is used for preparing sulfur dioxide.
Packaging, Storage, Transportation, and Safety
Precautions for operation: Closed operation, strengthen ventilation. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical safety goggles, anti toxic work clothes, and rubber gloves. Avoid generating dust. Avoid contact with acids. Handle with care during transportation to prevent packaging damage. Equip with emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances.
Storage precautions: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. It should be stored separately from acids and avoid mixing storage. Not suitable for long-term storage. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaked materials.
