Essential information
Acetone oxime is an organic compound with the molecular formula C3H7NO and white needle shaped crystals. Easy to dissolve in water, ethanol, ether, and acetone, soluble in acids and bases, and easily hydrolyzed in dilute acids. It evaporates quickly in the air.
Application area
Water treatment agents and boiler chemical deoxidizers
Acetone oxime (DMKO), also known as dimethyl ketoxime, has a relative density of 0.9113, a melting point of 60 ℃, a flash point of 47.2 ℃, a boiling point of 134.8 ℃, and a toxicity LD50 of 5500mg/kg. It is easily soluble in water and solvents such as alcohols and ethers, with a saturated solubility of 25% (mass percentage) in aqueous solution. Its water solubility is neutral, and it is easily hydrolyzed in dilute acid. It can cause potassium permanganate to fade at room temperature. Mainly used as a chemical deoxidizer for industrial boiler feedwater
Acetone oxime can reduce the iron content in the feedwater, prevent the boiler from overheating and corrosion damage caused by the formation of iron oxide deposits, and also have a cleaning effect on the corrosion products of copper deposited in pipelines, economizers, etc. This is the reason why the copper content in the boiler water will significantly increase during the initial use of acetone oxime.
The decomposition products of acetone oxime are mainly nitrogen and water, with a small amount of formic acid, acetic acid, and nitrogen oxides. While ensuring the deoxygenation effect, when controlling the residual amount of DMKO in the feedwater to 5-40 μ g/L, formic acid, acetic acid, Cl -, SO42- were not detected in all tested water vapor samples. At the same time, the NO2- and NO3- contents of some samples were also detected, but none were detected. Therefore, using acetone oxime deoxygenation has no adverse effects on the water vapor system.
Passivation agent after boiler acid washing
After boiler acid washing, the metal surface has high activity and requires the use of passivators to generate a dense protective film on the metal surface to prevent secondary corrosion of the metal. In the past, hydrazine, sodium nitrite, sodium tripolyphosphate, and other passivators were commonly used. Although hydrazine and sodium bisulfite have good passivation effects, the drugs themselves have significant toxic side effects on operators and users, making passivation solution treatment difficult and polluting the environment. Although the sodium tripolyphosphate passivation method has the advantages of simple process and easy treatment of waste liquid, it can easily lead to low pH value of boiler water after unit startup, which brings certain difficulties to the quality monitoring and treatment of feedwater steam. Experimental results have shown that acetone oxime (dimethyl ketoxime) can replace various passivators mentioned above and achieve satisfactory or better results. And it has the advantages of low usage, non-toxic emissions, and no pollution.
Packaging, Storage, Transportation, and Safety
Type of shipping
Transport vehicles should be equipped with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response equipment for leaks during transportation. It is recommended to transport in the morning and evening during summer. The tank truck used for transportation should have a grounding chain, and a perforated partition can be installed inside the tank to reduce static electricity generated by vibration. It is strictly prohibited to mix and transport with oxidants, reducing agents, alkalis, edible chemicals, etc. During transportation, it should be protected from direct sunlight, rain, and high temperatures. When stopping midway, one should stay away from sources of fire, heat, and high temperature areas. The exhaust pipe of the vehicle carrying the item must be equipped with a flame retardant device, and the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to generating sparks for loading and unloading is prohibited. When transporting by road, follow the prescribed route and do not stay in residential or densely populated areas. It is prohibited to slip during railway transportation. It is strictly prohibited to use wooden boats or cement boats for bulk transportation.
Storage method
1. This product is highly flammable and has a serious fire hazard, belonging to Class A fire hazardous substances. Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, away from heat sources, ignition sources, and contraindicated substances. All containers should be placed on the ground. However, acetone that has been stored and recycled for a long time often contains acidic impurities that are corrosive to metals.
2. Packaged in 200L (53USGal) iron drums with a net weight of 160kg per drum. The interior of the drum should be clean and dry. Store in a dry and well ventilated place, with a temperature maintained below 35 ℃. During loading, unloading, and transportation, prevent violent impacts and exposure to sunlight and rain. Store and transport according to the regulations for fire and explosion prevention chemicals.
3. Storage precautions: Store in a cool, well ventilated dedicated warehouse, away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 29 ℃. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, reducing agents, and alkalis, and avoid mixing storage. Adopt explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to generating sparks. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable containment materials.
