Basic information
Dichloroethane (chemical formula: C2H4Cl2;Cl(CH2)2Cl, formula quantity: 98.97), I .e. 1,2-dichloroethane, is a kind of halogenated hydrocarbon, commonly expressed as EDC. Colorless or light yellow transparent liquid melting point -35.7 ℃, boiling point 83.5 ℃, density 1.235 g/cm, flash point 17 ℃. Insoluble in water is mainly used as an intermediate in the preparation process of vinyl chloride (polyvinyl chloride monomer), and is also used as a solvent. It is a colorless liquid with a chloroform-like odor at room temperature. It is toxic and potentially carcinogenic. Possible solvent alternatives include 1,3-dioxane and toluene. Used as a solvent and manufacturing, trichloroethane intermediates. Used as a solvent for wax, fat, rubber, etc. and as a grain insecticide.
Application areas
1. Mainly used as vinyl chloride; ethylene glycol; oxalic acid; ethylene diamine; tetraethyl lead; polyethylene polyamine and diphenyl formyl raw materials. Also used as oil; resin; rubber solvent, dry cleaning agent, pesticide in addition to early chrysanthemum element; caffeine; vitamin; hormone extraction agent, wetting agent, impregnating agent, oil dewaxing, anti-seismic agent, also used in pesticide manufacturing and drug insecticide; Piperazine raw materials. In agriculture can be used as food; grain fumigant; soil disinfectant.
2. Used for boron analysis, oil and tobacco extraction agent. Also used in the manufacture of acetyl cellulose.
3. Used as analytical reagents, such as solvents, chromatographic analysis of standard substances. It is also used in the extraction of oils and fats and in organic synthesis.
4. For detergent, extractant, pesticide and metal deoilant, etc.
5. Used as wax, fat, rubber, such as solvent and grain insecticide.
Packaging, transportation and safety
First aid measures
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse thoroughly with soap and water. Keep the patient warm and quiet. Inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with the substance may cause a delayed reaction. Ensure that medical personnel understand the knowledge of individual protection related to the substance and pay attention to self-protection.
Eye contact: immediately lift the eyelid, rinse with flowing water.
Inhalation: quickly leave the scene to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. Give oxygen when breathing is difficult. When breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water, induce vomiting and lavage the stomach for those who take it by mistake. Seek medical attention.
Protective measures
Engineering control: the production process is closed and ventilation is strengthened.
Respiratory system protection: when the concentration in the air exceeds the standard, you should wear a gas mask. In case of emergency rescue or escape, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. NIOSH/OSHA1000ppm: Supplied breathing apparatus. 2500ppm: Continuous air supply respirator. 3000ppm: Self-contained respirator, full-face respirator. Emergency or planned access to areas of unknown concentration, or in immediate life or health-threatening conditions: self-contained positive pressure full-mask respirator, air-supplied positive pressure full-mask respirator supplemented by auxiliary self-contained positive pressure respirator. Escape: air-purifying full-face respirator (gas mask) with organic vapor filter box and self-carrying escape respirator.
Eye protection: wear chemical safety goggles.
Protective clothing: wear corresponding protective clothing.
Hand protection: Wear chemical-resistant gloves if necessary.
Others: Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited at the work site. After work, shower and change clothes. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
