Potassium pyrophosphate (Potassium Diphosphate), is an inorganic, molecular formula K4P2O7, molecular weight of 330.33, white powder or block, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution is alkaline. The solubility in 100g of water at 25°C is 187g.
The main purpose of potassium pyrophosphate is to replace potassium cyanide for cyanide-free electroplating. 1 Mainly used for cyanide-free plating, instead of sodium cyanide as a complexing agent for plating. It is also used as a pretreatment agent for electroplating and a pyrophosphoric acid plating solution. Preparation of detergent components for clothing, metal surface cleaning agent and bottle cleaning agent components, additives for various cleaning agents. Used as a clay dispersant for the ceramic industry, a dispersant and a buffer for pigments and dyes. The bleaching and dyeing industry is used to remove a small amount of trivalent iron ions in water and improve the quality of bleaching and dyeing. Potassium pyrophosphate is also an excellent stabilizer of hydrogen peroxide.
