Basic information
Sodium hypochlorite is the "chlorine" bleach in ordinary household washing. Other similar bleaching agents are potassium hypochlorite, lithium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite, sodium hypobromite or sodium hypoiodate, chlorine-containing oxide solutions, chlorinated trisodium phosphate, sodium or potassium trichloroisocyanurate, etc., but are not usually used in home washing. It is generally believed that bleaching is due to its strong oxidation. Bleaching agents are variants that destroy the chromogenic system or produce a co-chromophore.
Application areas
Sodium hypochlorite is mainly used in bleaching, industrial wastewater treatment, papermaking, textile, pharmaceutical, fine chemical, sanitary disinfection and many other fields:
1, used for pulp, textiles (such as cloth, towels, sweatshirts, etc.), chemical fiber and starch bleaching;
2. The soap industry is used as a bleach for grease;
3, chemical industry for the production of hydrazine hydrate, monochloramine, dichloramine;
4, used in the manufacture of cobalt, nickel chlorination agent;
5, water treatment as a water purification agent, fungicide, disinfectant;
6, the dye industry for the manufacture of sulfur sapphire blue;
7, organic industry for the manufacture of chloropicrin, calcium carbide hydration acetylene detergent;
8. Agriculture and animal husbandry are used as disinfectants and deodorants for vegetables, fruits, farms and livestock houses;
9. Food grade sodium hypochlorite is used for the disinfection of beverage water, fruits and vegetables, and the sterilization and disinfection of food manufacturing equipment and utensils, but it cannot be used in the food production process with sesame as raw material.
Packaging, transportation and safety
Operation precautions: airtight operation, full ventilation. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear direct gas mask (half mask), chemical safety goggles, anti-corrosion overalls and rubber gloves. Prevent vapor leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with acids. Handle and unload lightly to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may leave harmful substances.
Precautions for storage: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30 ℃. Should be stored separately from the acid, do not mix storage. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
Emergency treatment: quickly evacuate the personnel from the leakage pollution area to the safety area, isolate them, and strictly restrict access. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and acid and alkali resistant overalls. Do not touch the leak directly. Cut off the leak source as much as possible.
Small amount of leakage: Absorb with sand, vermiculite or other inert material.
Large leakage: build embankments or dig pits to contain. Cover with foam to reduce steam disasters. Transfer to tank truck or special collector by pump, recycle or transport to waste disposal site.
Skin contact: remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of flowing water.
Eye contact: Lift the eyelid and flush with flowing water or normal saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: quickly leave the scene to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately take artificial respiration and seek medical attention.
Intake: Drink plenty of warm water to induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Hazardous characteristics: by high thermal decomposition of toxic corrosive flue gas. It is corrosive.
Hazardous combustion products: Chloride.
Fire extinguishing method: using fog water, carbon dioxide, sand fire extinguishing
