Tetrahydrofuran

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a colorless, miscible with water, at room temperature and pressure with a small viscosity of organic liquid. The chemical formula of this cyclic ether can be written as (CH2)4O. Because of its long liquid range, it is a commonly used medium polar aprotic solvent. Its main use is as a polymer precursor. Although the odor and chemical properties of THF are very similar to those of ether, the anesthetic effect is very poor.

Packaging, transportation and safety

Storage Precautions:

Usually commercial products are added with a polymerization inhibitor. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30 ℃. The packaging is required to be sealed and not in contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids and alkalis, and mixed storage is forbidden. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
