Chlorobenzene is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 132.2 ℃. During World War I, picric acid was mainly used to produce military explosives. Between 1940 and 1960, a large amount of DDT insecticide was produced. After 1960, DDT was gradually replaced by other highly efficient and low residual pesticides, leading to a decreasing demand for chlorobenzene. Mainly used as a solvent for ethyl cellulose and many resins, producing various other benzene intermediates such as nitrochlorobenzene.

Mainly used as an intermediate in dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and organic synthesis, it can also be used as a solvent and gas chromatography reference material.

 

 

Packaging, Storage, Transportation, and Safety

Precautions for operation:

Sealed operation, local exhaust. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter type gas masks (half face masks), chemical safety goggles, work clothes that prevent toxic substances from penetrating, and rubber oil resistant gloves. Keep away from sources of fire and heat, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent steam leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants. During filling, the flow rate should be controlled and there should be a grounding device to prevent static electricity accumulation. Handle with care during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances.

Storage precautions:

Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants and avoid mixing storage. Adopt explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to generating sparks. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable containment materials
