Ammonia water, also known as ammonia water, is mainly composed of NH3 · H2O. It is an aqueous solution of ammonia, colorless, transparent, and has a pungent odor. The melting point of ammonia is 77.7 ℃, the boiling point is 33.5 ℃, and the density is 0.91g/cm ³. Ammonia is easily soluble in water and ethanol. Easy to evaporate, with some alkaline properties, ammonia water is produced by passing ammonia gas into water. Ammonia is toxic, irritating and corrosive to the eyes, nose, and skin, and can cause suffocation. The permissible concentration in the air is 30mg/m3. Mainly used as fertilizer.
Industrial ammonia water is an aqueous solution containing 25% to 28% ammonia. Only a small portion of ammonia molecules in ammonia water react with water to form monohydrate ammonia, which is a weak base that only exists in ammonia water. The freezing point of ammonia water is related to the concentration of ammonia water, and the commonly used (wt) 20% concentration freezing point is about -35 ℃. Heat is generated through neutralization reaction with acid. There is a risk of combustion and explosion. The specific heat capacity is 4.3 × 10 ³ J/kg ·℃ (10% ammonia solution).

Laboratory use
Ammonia water is an important reagent in laboratories, mainly used as an analytical reagent, neutralizing agent, alkaloid leaching agent, aluminum salt synthesis, and weakly alkaline solvent. Used for the synthesis of aluminum salts and the detection and determination of certain elements (such as copper and nickel), used to precipitate hydroxides of various elements.
Military use
As an alkaline disinfectant, it is used to disinfect sarin type toxic agents. The commonly used concentration is 10% dilute ammonia water (density 0.960), while the concentration used in winter is 20%.
Industrial use
Woolen, silk, printing and dyeing industries are used to wash wool, woolen fabric, and greige fabric, dissolve and adjust acidity and alkalinity, and serve as dyeing aids. Organic industry is used as an aminating agent and a catalyst for producing thermosetting phenolic resins, while inorganic industry is used to prepare various iron salts.
Used in industry for large-scale integrated circuit pressure reduction or plasma CVD, to grow silicon dioxide film as a pH regulator for boiler feedwater. Ammonia is used to neutralize carbonic acid in the feedwater, increase the pH value, and slow down the corrosion of carbon dioxide in the feedwater. It is also a boiler shutdown protection agent, which has a good protective effect on boilers with a small amount of stored water that cannot be released.
