propionic acid
Propionic acid, also known as primary oleic acid, is a short chain saturated fatty acid with the chemical formula CH3CH2COOH and a molecular weight of 74.08. Propionic acid belongs to weak electrolytes (Ka=1.34 × 10-5), and its aqueous solution is weakly acidic but highly corrosive. Steam is irritating to the skin and respiratory tract. At room temperature and pressure, propionic acid is a colorless, clear, oily liquid with an unpleasant odor of rancidity. It is miscible with water, ethanol, chloroform, and ether.
Dimethyl sulfoxide
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a sulfur-containing organic compound that is a colorless, odorless, and transparent liquid at room temperature. It is a hygroscopic and flammable liquid. It has the characteristics of high polarity, high boiling point, good thermal stability, non proton, and water solubility. It can dissolve in most organic compounds such as ethanol, propanol, benzene, and chloroform, and is known as the "universal solvent". Heating in the presence of acid will produce small amounts of compounds such as methyl mercaptan, formaldehyde, dimethyl sulfide, and methanesulfonic acid. It decomposes at high temperatures and reacts violently with chlorine, emitting a light blue flame when burned in air. Can be used as organic solvents, reaction media, and organic synthesis intermediates. It can also be used as a dyeing solvent, dye remover, dyeing carrier for synthetic fibers, as well as an absorbent for recovering acetylene and sulfur dioxide.
Formaldehyde
